Sticks and Stones by Cher Lloyd free essay sample

Cher Lloyd is a spunky, upbeat girl with a lot of attitude. From appearing on the UK’s version of The X-Factor, coming in behind One Direction and Matt Cardel, she has become a musical sensation (admit it, you sing Want U Back when your in the car!). Her debut US album, called Sticks and Stones clearly defines both her talent and her personality. The album starts off with the song Grow Up featuring rapper Busta Rhymes. This track has got another bouncy and bold beat. The song is all about how â€Å"we don’t wanna grow up, we just wanna get down†. The track shows off Cher’s adorable persona and her amazing rapping ability (watch out Busta!). Some have compared it to the sound of the Black Eyed Peas, but a better singing ability and a song you actually want to hear on the radio. Will.I.Am has got nothing on this party song. We will write a custom essay sample on Sticks and Stones by Cher Lloyd or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Following that, is Cher’s radio single Want U Back. It’s boppy, it’s fresh, and extremely catchy. Not to mention, it makes you feel so confident! Whenever I hear that song, I feel like the coolest person ever. Cher says this song really describes her musically. This song has multiple versions. The UK has one with rapper Astro and the US has one with Snoop Dogg. The radio US version usually only features Cher though. People on you have often criticized the UK version, mostly because of Astro’s appearance. Comments on YouTube say that he â€Å"ruins the song†. With Ur Love is Cher’s third radio single (UK) and it features Mike Posner. A little bit slower than her other tunes, With Ur Love keeps a steady beat and words that you easily sing along to. It’s a song that you’ll sing in the shower, but can’t dance too. Mike Posner makes a very quick show in the song, with simple lyrics that make me wonder who wrote them. Was it a fifth grader or just unoriginal? Posner: You got it yeah, yeah you got it I could slow it down Speed it up How you want it girl All night long And I dont even care If you sing my songs wrong 1st date, 1st base 2nd date, 2nd base 3rd date, youre looking at me funny You got a hard shell But the middles so yummy The fourth song is Swagger Jagger. This song was intended to be Cher’s second US single, but after its huge flop on YouTube, I strongly doubt it will be. It received 168,843 dislikes on the video. Maybe its because the word ‘swagger’ is so dead (I’m talking to you Beiber), or maybe because she’s addressing all her ‘haterz’ but this song received horrifying reviews from the public. It starts off with a heavy techno beat, and transfers into a soft, almost childish melody, and cotinues to switch off throughout. This song often gets Cher compared to artists such as Nicki Minaj, Karmin, and Lady Gaga. At Number 5 on her track is Beautiful People. Beautiful People features singer Carolina Liar. While it is the slowest song on Sticks and Stones, it is undoubtedly one of the best. The music is strong yet still conveys a somber, low mood. The lyrics seem to be intended for a bad romance but could also be interpreted in multiple ways. The only way I can describe it is as a â€Å"soulful, strong Taylor Swift† Cause its beautiful people like you, who get whatever they want And its beautiful people like you, who suck the life right out of my heart And its beautiful people like you, who make me cry Cause nobody else could be nearly as cruel as you The next song is Playa Boi. This song moves back into Cher’s usual territory of ‘sassy but classy’. Cher has her standard techno dance-y beat, with her classic Cher sass. Although the message is a bit overdone (another song about thugs and ganstas) she puts a unique twist on it. Not just anyone can win her love, they have to fight for it. I highly recommend this song. Tracks seven and eight my favorite. Superhero and Over The Moon are two totally different songs but have such an edge and uniqueness about them, its impossible not to love one of these two. Superhero is very fast paced, but not really a dance-y tune. It’s more of a jamming-out-in-your-car-with-the-volume-on-high song. Over the Moon has a very vintage sound with a modern twist. And, of course, she raps in both of them. (I actually can do the rap of Superhero. I’m so proud!) The ninth song is pretty self explanatory. This high energy dubstep song features Mic Right eous, Dot Rotten Ghetts . Dub on the Track is exactly what it sounds like. The words are basically â€Å"I’m the kind a g-girl to put d-d-d-d-d-ub on tha track†, *Insert guy rapping here* , â€Å"I’m the kind a g-girl to put d-d-d-d-d-ub on tha track.† The last song is another great one. A lower energy End Up Here is all about discovering you have been cheated on. The sound is like a mix of P!nk, Katy Perry and a hint of Nicki Minaj. An easy beat, and sing-a-long lyrics, this song is sure to be one you’ll sing in the shower. Cher Lloyd is an amazing artist. Known for being cute, fun and a little bit sassy, Cher’s career is only getting started. Her album is released officially in the USA on September 18th of this year. I give this album 4 out of 5 stars. I am completely proud to be one of her â€Å"Brats†.

Free Essays on The Didache And Its Impact On Christian Liturgy And Discipline

The Didache and Its Impact on Christian Liturgy and Discipline The text of the Didache was a manuscript discovered by Metropolitan Bryennios in a library in Constantinople in 1873, and was later published in 1883. The work consists of two parts, the first section, known as â€Å"Two Ways,† offering teachings on the way of life versus the way of death, and the second section dealing with issues of liturgy and different understandings of church discipline (The Study of Liturgy, page 85). The Didache is the Greek word for â€Å"teach† and this text is also called the â€Å"The Teaching of the Apostles.† The date of the Didache remains unclear, but there are different proposed time lines. They are as follows: 1. The Didache is an actual document of Church Order dating back to a very early period around 80-100 or earlier 2. It is a combination of sources dating from the second century based on an older period so that the reader could gain a sense of earliest Christian life 3. The Didache is a document that consists of varied stages of development, but originated from the first century possibly as early as the year 60 (The Study of Liturgy, page 86.) The editor, Andrew Louth, of Early Christian Writings (page 189) argues that the work is from the early first century, and that it does not appear to be made to appear primitive, and that it is indeed authentic. However, other scholars argue that the Didachist, in â€Å"The Two Ways† section shows knowledge of the Gospel of Matthew and Luke that would date the text into the second century (Early Christian Fathers, page 163). Given t hese debates, it is hard to pinpoint the exact date of the text, and this leads to further debate about the authenticity of the early Christian traditions described in the writings. This seems to be a consistent struggle in doing through examination of the first century due to the lack of clarity and confirmed date of documents, and, more importantly, the lack of histo... Business application of mathematics - Essay Example A simple formula is then derived to select the best five funds from each sector. For low risk investors, the 1st, 3rd and 5th year cumulative performance to the last quarter columns and fund size were used as metrics to decide the best 5 funds from each sector. Basic financial theory states that outsized returns can be generated only by taking risks, so although a fund may exhibit excellent returns, an investor should incorporate risk into the analysis to determine the risk-adjusted performance of the fund and how it compares to other investments. There are several metrics to use when analysing funds, one can decide to use kurtosis, skewness, standard deviation, mean, minimum and maximum functions, value at risk or any other metric or any combination of these metrics. Combining many of these metrics in the analysis of funds is an intensive way of getting the best funds. The metrics used to analyse the funds sometimes give different funds as the best. Most people however use fund size and 1st, 3rd and 5th yearly cumulative values to easily select the best funds. Skewness is a measure of the asymmetry of data in this case, the returns. Positive skewness means mean>median>mode. Negative skewness indicates the probability of a very high risk even if the probability is low. Kurtosis measures the level of flatness of a distribution. Negative kurtosis, indicates a lower probability of results around the mean, and lower probability of extreme values. A positive kurtosis indicates a higher probability of results near the mean, but also a higher probability of extreme values.   The idea of thought behind this criterion is that the yearly cumulative performance to the last quarter is a vital metric that indicates fund performance in the market. Another important metric that investors look at is fund size. Among the yearly cumulative performance columns, a fund that will

History Of The Scientific Method

History Of The Scientific Method Do scientists need the Scientific Method to perform a meaningful experiment? It is undeniable that the best way to solve a problem in science is through a series of steps that lead to the solution. Since early stages in the development of Science, scientists have had the need of following certain steps in order to solve problems they were curious about to research. According to historians, Isaac Newton was the first researcher to complete the early process of the scientific method. (Yahoo Answers , 2006) The history of the scientific method begins in the Greeks civilization.greeks were the first ones who used observation and measurement to learn about the world. Aristoteles was the founder of the empirical science, but the muslims were the ones who developed the scientific process. They became the promotors of the scientific method. Galileo Galilei is given all the credit for being the creator of The Scientific Method. Meanwhile Brtish, Italians, French, and the Germans contributed to the methodology during the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. Among them are James Bacon, Renee Descartes, and Isaac Newton. It was between 19th and 20th century when scientists such as John Dewey and Morris R. Cohen spoke about the scientific method in America. (Edmund, 2000-2009) The scientific method is the process of asking and answering a specific question by performing experiment and observing the results obtained. It involves a series of steps that go from identifying a problem to a conclusion and, therefore, the publishing of the work to the scientific community around the world. This process includes the following steps: Identify a problem, or ask a question. Gather information, which consist in researching about the topic. Find relevant information about the theme being investigating. Develop a hypothesis, which is an educated guess or prediction of what the researcher thinks might happen. Perform an experiment to prove the hypothesis, or educated guess. Record and analyze data to see if the hypothesis was right or wrong. If your hypothesis is wrong, the researcher has to go back the process and restate the hypothesis. When the hypothesis is right the scientist draw conclusions and then publishes his work. (Science Buddies, 2012) Identifying a problem and asking a question are the base of the scientific method. Without a question to answer there is no need to develop a hypothesis or develop an investigation. The research question, the problem observed is the base. The researcher questions himself why a phenomenon occurs. From this, the other steps in the scientific method develop. (Science Stuff, 2007) When gathering information, observation is fundamental. Observation includes the use of the five senses to collect data. In this step it is important to record the information that is relevant to the investigation. It also includes research about the topic. (Science Stuff, 2007) The hypothesis is an explanation of why the phenomenon occurs; it is the educated guess. It proposes a statement in the Ifà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦Thenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦Because format. It is the scientists proposal to answer the question formulated at the beginning of the investigation. The hypothesis can be conceived as a prediction of what the scientist expects it is going to happen. (Science Stuff, 2007) The experiment is the step where scientists perform their tests and observe everything and figures out if the experimentation is going as they planned. In this step, different factors play important roles. These factors or variables are of great relevance in experiments. The variables can be independent, dependent, constants, and control. The independent variable is the factor that changes throughout the experiment. The dependent variable is the one that is being measured. In other words, the dependent variable could be the impact of the antibiotic on the bacteria. An independent variable is the presumed cause, whereas the dependent variable is the presumed effect. For example, if a scientist is investigating the effect of antibiotics on specific bacteria, the independent variable could be the amount of antibiotic used. The control is the standard of measurement in the experiment. It is a standard of comparison, the reference investigators use to compare their results. As scientists investigate, they need to record data while they observe the experiment progressing. They use different tools to record this data. Sometimes it is useful to keep a journal to record in a more detailed way what is going on in their experiment. Another important tool used by scientists when recording and analyzing data is charts and graphs. Bar graphs and pie charts get used frequently in science. These tools help visualize and display the information in a more effective way. (Science Stuff, 2007) The last step of the scientific method, draw a conclusion. In this step, scientists approve or reject the hypothesis formulated at the beginning. They conclude if their conjecture was right or wrong. In other words, the conclusion is a summary of the statements that have being proved throughout the experiment to answer the original question. In this step, it is required to have an answer, to tell if the hypothesis was true or false. In this conclusion scientists include the data that helped them confirm the hypothesis, but if the hypothesis was not confirmed scientist need to evaluate the process to find out what was the error. They should review everything that might cause a difference in results from what it was expected. (Science Stuff, 2007) In order to obtain a valid or reliable, scientists should repeat the experiment many times to see if the results are the same. This process could be tedious, but it will help confirm that the experiement is accurate. This helps find out if there was an error in the first experimentation. Performing an experiment only once does not provide enough information to comfirm or reject a hypopthesis. Scientist have used the scientific method to figure out explanations to different phenomenon. The scientist used the scientific method to come up with scientific laws and scientific theories. A scientific theory is an explanation of a phenomenon obtained by reasoning, observing , and experimenting. An example of scientific theory is Darwins theory of evolution. On the other hand, a scientific law tries to describe a phenomenon that occurs in nature. An example of Scientific law is E = mc ² referring to the speed of light in a vacumm. In most cases, scientists do not have the technology to model the phenomenon in study. But by studying and investigating it, they can conclude and formulate a scientific law. They have also used the scientific method to discover how technology affects the results in an experiment. When following the scientific method, technology has an important role. As technology has developed, scientists have had the opportunity to use it in their doings, being able to perform actions that facilitate the process. Technology affects science in a positive way, helping people gain knowledge. There are innumerable processes that are possible today thanks to the use of technology that were inimaginable long time ago. Many of the phenomenon that have been observed since ever have finally found their explantions just because of the application of technology in science. The scientific method is extremely important for researchers and scientists. They use the scientific method everytime they have a new discovery in science. The scientific method has 5 steps that are required for an investigation: identify a problem, research about the topic, formulate a hypothesis, perform an experiment, and record and analyze data from the observations made during the experiment. An extremely interesting fact about science is that it is not affected negatively by technology; on the contrary, technology is a useful tool in todays generation. As Robert M. Pirsig Traditional scientific method has always been at the very best, 20 20 hindsight. It is good for seeing where you have been. Its good for testing the truth of what you think you know, but it cant tell you where you ought to go. (Thinkexist, 1999-2012)

Reluctant Collectivists Essay

The events of the 20th century, especially of its first part had brought a lot of things to think over in political and economical sphere. The global economical crisis of the 1930ies and the War time had proved there have to be changes made in the regulation of the political and social relationships as well as in the government policy. Time showed that for consistent and stable development of the country there as to special welfare social programs that would defend all classes of the society.    Reluctant collectivists proposed that there has to be state intervention in the country’s economy that would execute the role of ‘mechanism for making good the failure of the market to control avoidable ills’, but they didn’t have a purpose of using it as the only instrument for economical change.    Two of the most known reluctant collectivists Keynes and Beveridge are known to be the founders of the British Welfare sate. They strongly believed in the concept of free market relations, and the minimization of the state intervention by their opinion would maximize the efficiency of economics, political and social freedoms.   Ã‚  Ã‚   But still reluctant collectivists argued that for a wide variety of political and economical reasons the market in the free society was not working on the ideal level as it was noted by economic theorists. The economical problems and social issues that Great Britain faced during and after WW2 motivated the need of state regulation, as they proposed. By their opinion the economical waste and instability may discredit parliamentary democracy and gave the birth to mistrust to the government.    Even though that reluctant collectivists were in favor of state regulations and intervention of state to the market and economics of the country in the serious period of economical situation, they still didn’t fully support social insurance system. By their opinion the organization of social security is not the state’s problem, the assistance schemes of the government according to reluctant collectivists should simply include the guarantee of living income for each citizen. And that’s why the living standards above the minimum wage have to be gained by individuals themselves.    The philosophical premises of the reluctant collectivism are originated in the theories of free market, which is considered to be the best mechanism that insures initiative of the individual and hence political freedom.   But here comes the question: if there has to be a need in state regulation of market and economical relations how much of the intervention is needed for that. The obvious answer is the following: the weakness and the strengths of the market have to be analyzed first. This pragmatism puts reluctant collectivists close to the conservatives, whose philosophy accepts the preserving of the best that remains from the past, while adopting new things that are most likely to change the situation for better.    Justification of their political aims and program by reluctant collectivists during the period of serious economical issues in the UK helped Conservatives to come to power in 1950ies and 1960ies. But still the theory of â€Å"reluctant collectivism† that seems to rapidly react on the changes in state’s market and economy can not fully answer the question what is good for the further development of market that doesn’t face problems. As the result the existing problems in understanding of the market development program caused the contradictions in the views of conservatives and those who belonged to reluctant collectivists. The understanding of the market virtues by reluctant collectivists didn’t give the chance for introducing and practicing economical and market reforms. As a result most of their programs lost their actuality in 1960ies. Reference George. V. & Wilding, P(1985). The Reluctant collectivists. In ideology and social welfare(pp.44-68). HSBC use the strategy of charging markets with different prices according to differences of the price of each buyer. Rivalry among current competitors: There have many rivals in the banking and financial sectors. HSBC used efficient strategies to ensure its leadership position in the market among rivalries. Moreover, due to the capabilities of other rival companies, HSBC develops strategic plans to confirm that they are permanently being the first choice of their customers in banking industries. Nowadays, as we cross the mountain of financial crisis, a number of banks went to liquidation . SWOT Analysis STRENGTHS International Finance. Record Profits. Listed in London. China. HSBC try to fix these problem years ago. But the problem is there every year. Brand Name While it is certainly a global company, HSBC came late in the game to decide to execute a comprehensive marketing strategy and take advantage of the global brand. Because he had created so many different banks in different countries at different times over a period of one hundred years, which set them up with different names – Hong Kong Bank of Canada, the British Bank of the Middle East, etc. Not even all of these banks prior to 1998, bore the logo of HSBC. In 1998, they were all branded together, but the previous lack of branding and name changes can damage the HSBC brand recognition. Customers may have thought that HSBC was responsible local bank and did not realize that HSBC had already serving for decades. OPPORTUNITIES Growth on emerging economies Apart from the growing Chinese middle class Brazilians and Indians have begun to appear as consumer culture, and thus increases wasteful consumers. However, HSBC has been running regional activities at the local level and have been rewarded for his efforts with numerous awards and honours for the Middle East market. HSBC is a trusted name there, and the company benefited from new democracy in Iraq by establishing a presence in the country. HSBC is the largest international bank in the Middle East. Low Mortgages Interest Rates The low mortgage interest rate increases the revenues and market’s shares. HSBC has made some records on this. THREATS Moving Back to China The banking colossal HSBC has been most explicit threat yet that it might move its headquarters from London because of the narrowing regulatory noose. Segmenting, Target Markets and the behaviour of customers in segmenting of HSBC Marketing: The market segmentation can help the marketing manager to determine the best marketing mix for organizing and serving the unique segment. This process is dividing the markets into the segments for the potential customers and has the objective for improving the competitive position of the company which can serve its customer better customer service. Market Segmentation is a subgroup of people or organizations sharing one or more characteristics that cause them to have similar product needs. Generally, the segmentation strategy is the division of the defined market in the smaller groups for the potential users of the products and can exhibit significant and meaningful variables which can represent the increased and measurable opportunity for the products positioning or investing the resources within the organization and can raised the forecasted marketing achievement objectives in the entire organizational goals of the business. The information technology is considered to be one of the major tools for the functionality scale worldwide of the company. It has its own website and it also has the e-business for internet, interactive, PC internet, and the telephone banking. In order to achieve the company’s marketing objectives, the organization needs to develop its marketing strategy or the marketing program that is centre to the detailed specification of marketing mix and it also includes the internal control as well as the procedures for assuring of effectively implemented and part of this is the market segmentation whereas if this is properly controlled or implemented, then it will greatly contribute to the achievement of the overall goals and the marketing objectives of HSBC. Many of the analyst believed that most of the financial institutions rely mainly on the generic marketing strategies. For the past years, HSBC is known as having the strong brand which can maintain the string perception for the minds of the customers. This can take the time for establishing much resource in keeping be remembering by the other customers as the local banks as well as managing in transferring the brand equities to the corporate brands. The Market Segmentation is the centre for the strong development of marketing strategy which involves the identification of the customers’ perception, needs, expectation, and the buying behaviour in order for them to group homogeneously for the customers who can be satisfied as well as marketed to the similar manner. Therefore, there had been expectation that the one segment can differ from the another activity to the customers profile and to the buying behaviour which has the connection to the sales and marketing activity in establishing these customers which is an ample factor for having these knowledge. The market segmentation is not only to group the customers but to shrewd the certain segment for the development of the clear brands position which as part of the integral process of market segmentation. The company now can launch the marketing strategies which use the marketing segmentation for managing its growth for strategic outlook. This can be done by the deliberation of the revenue generation culture and maintaining the prudent risk or the market risk while investing further to the people. The company has focused on the customers’ needs as a main issue for their development and had been done by dividing the customers in their location and with respect to their culture. In this regard, the company had recognized that most of the customers want to have the long term relationship to the company, ambitious and confident, and has the high productivity and focused to the marketing. In the detailed telephone interview, the respondent noted that the market segmentation of the company for the products and services for the groups of different location worldwide are effective and most of the generated profits had been use in overseas subsidiaries. In this regard, the company can manage to capitalize the presence overseas as well as the local knowledge and the expertise so that they can bring the new customers for opening the new accounts as well as looking at the other services and products that offered by HSBC. The company also had been optimistic that most of the customers prefer HSBC for the long term experience and having the well trained staff added to the lower charges and to the broad range of the products. Lastly, this market segmentation is considered to be generic wherein it greatly depends on the region for the several subsidiaries of the location of HSBC and some of the strategies are put to good. In 2003, HSBC had invested huge amount for proprietary relationship to the customers and to their management system so that the customers are managed efficiently. Therefore, they handled greater customer care and process of financial requirements in order to generate the customers’ satisfaction. For example, In UK HSBC generated much customers contacts for more than one million and led to the expansion of the existing relationship while the internet goes to the heart of every customers and their convenience which is important channel to the customers. In this manner, the e banking of HSBC can be available for the 17 territories and countries worldwide. The commercial banking is one of the strengths of the company which includes the incorporated business as the partnership, sole traders, trading entities, and associations. In this area of business, the company main contacts to the customers are the network managers’ relationship which managed and established to the local branch level or the expansion of the commercial banking centres so that they can meet their future and existing customers into their international reach while the corporate and investment banking can prove that the company can give the competitive advantage which can provide services for 25,000 subsidiaries and 1,200 customers for more than 50 countries. Because product managers can understand customers needs, then the group is supporting the teams through investing into the increase automation for the software and to the risk management, to the intranet site, to the central support of relationship management and having the geographical knowledge. In line with the private banking, the relationship to the managers can operate on the cross border basis in order to serve requirements which specialize for the clients for the different sectors which are all in line to the differentiated approach of the group into the international private banking. Because of increasing the customer base for the company, it build services centre for every particular transactions. In order for the company to remain competitive, it had invested that it can introduce the company in the introduction of the supporting and functionality expansion. The company had compelled to the metric of high level which can provide the actionable data. In line with this, HSBC had surveyed 27,000 customers all over the 24 countries which consist of customers’ experience. The findings that presented by are higher cost-t-serve goes across the entire aspect of HSBC in the professional or personal experience. Upon the movement of the company in its segmentation to the other regions, its product and services had been aligned to the needs of the market segments as the needs to banking through information technology. Through this service, the design for the right distribution channel in reaching the every distinct group so that they can stay contact. This segmentation had been essential to every single business detail that runs the bank in recognizing its long term growth. Conclusion and Recommendation for improvements of HSBC: In conclusion we would like to state that HSBC Group is in constant search of further development and its key data of latest year’s financial performance proved that they are succeeding in their aims, as the company is showing increase in almost all aspects of its business. It has shown steady growth in total profits in all most important regions of operation. It has also achieved large earnings per share increase over the last five years. The company has recently made a successful growth in the Middle-East region and expects continuous growth in profits from that region. In Asia all business segments exceeded and also contributed to overall function of the HSBC Group. From our point of view, in a company that has reached such huge size and success, there is not much that can be improved, considering their financial performance. It is worth mentioning, that HSBC Group should give more attention to the rapidly developing internet banking system. The information presented in this report is enough to make the final decision and as far as we are concerned it is good and reliable company to invest in. It is a perfect long-term investment. HSBC Group has around 220. 000 shareholders in over 124 countries and this only adds to its reputation and proves its trustworthiness.

The Two Proposed General Education Plans †English Essay

The Two Proposed General Education Plans – English Essay Free Online Research Papers The Two Proposed General Education Plans English Essay It is said that education is the key to success. But do students get the most out of education? The school Addams States University is a about to adapt a new curriculum for all college students, for not only the students, but also the faculty staffs are hating the current system that the school is implementing. The two proposed general education plans are called the Ozawa Plan, which was developed by a committee of business and engineering under the supervision of Dr. Mason Ozawa. It consist of English Composition that has 6 units and 3-unit subjects such as Speech, Critical thinking, History, Literature and arts, and Science which totals to 21 units. Another proposed plan is the Williams Plan, which was designed by Dr. Randolph Williams of Asian-American Studies. This plan resembles the Ozawa Plan, but it has some added courses such as the American, European, and African/Asian History, Social Science, and a Senior seminar. Some subjects on the Williams Plan are expanded to more units which makes it a total of 48 units in all. As a college student, I am personally concern on what my fellows are going to have as they adapt one of the two suggested general education plans. Although the Ozawa plan calls for early graduation of college students, the Williams plan is more ideal in preparing for the â€Å"real† world and in being competitive in the job market. Time-keeping wise, the Ozawa Plan is much more brief and concise. Students are able to save their time and use it for their other activities and agendas. Considering it’s value for education, it has the subjects that are crucial to students’ education. With this plan, students are able to give more time in focusing on their chosen major. They are only given 21 units for general education courses, and the rest are reserved for their major. Also, a huge amount of money are can be saved for their other expenses. In the views of students of Sociology 220 captured from the Campus Outlook, 68% of randomly selected students favored the Ozawa Plan, which calls for minimal subjects of 21 units. But contrasting this poll, almost none of the students who took the poll knew what the two plans are all about, according to Joanne Silva, a representative of the students of Sociology 220. Students were randomly selected to vote. Not all students know about the plan. Some didn’t e ven care. Considering the points of the professors, Professor Donald Chan said, â€Å"We think that students should get an education here, not just get trained in a technical subject. We want students to graduate with an awareness of how rich this world is and how they can be a part of that richness.†(Integrations,110) Professor Chan expresses their desire for students to get rich in learning, that is, learning the other constructs of education. Professor Lilian Frost, on the other hand, argues, â€Å"Students can’t spend their lives here. They can’t take everything. And if they’re going to be competitive on the job market, they have to take the courses that will make them competitive.† (Integrations,110) Professor Frost contrastingly explains that students would go a long way when not taking the Ozawa Plan. She points that students should take courses that would make them competitive in landing a job, rather than taking courses beyond their field of study. The Williams Plan, on the other hand, calls for longer general education program. It consist of broader subject areas like world history (American, European, African/Asian) that helps students become aware of the world around them. With more time for study, students are thoroughly trained in preparing for the â€Å"real† world and in getting a job. Using a general education program similar to the Williams Plan at my school, I’ve conducted an interview on my English 92 classmates, asking their reactions and feelings in having such kind of G.E program. 7 out of 10 said that they feel much more educated, knowledgeable and most of all, confident. They feel they have high opportunities in getting a job, and they feel much more confident, knowing that they feel good about themselves, and that they have the guts to handle whatever complications and adversities the â€Å"real† world has to offer. While the remaining 3 people honestly think the current program our school is having is a complete waste of time. They said it only calls for longer and useless courses, which are unrelated to what major they’re interested in. They said that it will be the same in considering a job, as long as they’re focused with their major. Supporting this contrast statement, some subjects included in the Williams Plan has no apparent connection to the students’ chosen major. Also, this plan would make too much time and money of the students, but once students are able to feel the outside world after graduation, they will realize that their time spent and expenses in college is worth it. The chances for jobs and promotions are higher, better pay, and the school expenses are paid back much bigger. Justifying those statements on employment, I would like to point out the views on promotions and landing an entry level job. It is also very important for colleges and universities to consider the expectations, requirements, and qualifications of employers to graduated students who are looking for a job. According to the Campus Outlook, Sherman Grant of the Monolith Corporation says, â€Å"What we’re getting from schools is a bunch of trained seals who can’t read and write and think for themselves. The don’t know anything except accounting, or whatever they’ve majored in.† These statements clearly talks about how students graduate early but with limited knowledge and underdeveloped thinking and awareness. In the words of the director of recruitment for State Utilities, Marjorie Paderewski, â€Å"we’d really like to have it all people both well trained and well educated. The people with the training do get most of the entry level jobs. But the people with the education too get most of the promotions.† These lines emphasizes the desire of employers to get highly-educated students. Students who are not only expert on their field of study, but also on the other aspects of learning. Showing the pro’s and con’s of the two plans, Addams State should be really careful and sensitive in choosing the right curriculum for the whole student body. Adapting a new plan will surely take effect on what students will be and will have, once they start living the â€Å"real† world. They should not only decide on what is actually quick and easy, but on what they think is essential for students to become well-prepared, highly-educated, and well-motivated college graduates. Taxonomy of Learning Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Taxonomy of Learning - Research Paper Example Benjamin as a committee chairperson, wanted to improve the level of understanding in students so as to deepen their understanding of the subject matter. Anderson has various believes in relation to excellence in a real life situation. Anderson’s argument and interpretation on intelligence of excellence is based on the Triarchic Theory on Intelligence. This theory entails three types of knowledge sub-sections that are; creative, analytical and practical knowledge and skills. All these sub-section of intelligence, have their basic roles to play. Creative part of the intelligence offers or creates room for acquiring and learning new things. This enables one to venture into various activities that need a lot of understanding and wise decisions. The analytical part of intelligence is used in planning, monitoring and evaluating the performance level of different tasks. This makes one to arrive at wise and ideal decisions that can help in making or enhancing academic success. Practic al sub-section of intelligence is used in performing to various tasks. This gives one the potentiality to apprehend positively to their duties and responsibilities. Generally, intelligence can be linked to education in which all the qualities and sub-sections of intelligence are needed for a student to successfully accomplish their set goals and objectives in life. The goal of education is always based on promoting high level of thinking and the ability to interpret information. Education in this case should always major on individual strengths as they think or find more ideal or genuine ways of curbing their weaknesses through the implication of all the three sub-sections of intelligence. Some bits of efforts to enhance the successful implementation process successfully should also accompany the three sub-sections of intelligence. Intelligence as a basic factor of education should be handled with a lot of care. This cannot be handled physically but by the kind of actions involved i n the school management system (National Association of Secondary School Principals, 2007). Learning institutions should also provide a conducive environment that can support the learning process so as to favor the comfort of scholars. This can really contribute in boosting the performance level of various institutions. There are also some of the things a part from intelligence instillation that various scholars and principals should know as far as the learning process is concerned. All the learning facilities should be availed to scholars so as to enable them have good reference and practical items that can enable them to understand their various subjects of study. Though the curriculum involved in the education systems of various institution in the world are effective There are still some little problems that tend to interfere with the whole thing. Some of these things are mainly centered on the quality of services received by the scholars. The school management system should ensu re that all its staff members perform their duties and responsibilities to perfection. On the other hand, scholars are also supposed to apprehend positively to some of the rules and regulations of the school (Woollaccot, 2009). The strategic position of the school should also be considered so as to enhance a conducive position that can support learning process. The school or learning institution should be position or built in places free from excess noise

Business Law and Ethics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

Business Law and Ethics - Essay Example First thing on my mind would be to try to figure out a way to alert some one of importance about the issue at hand without being viewed as an unfriendly suitor. Should I began on the floor pointing fingers the workers or should I take this straight to the top? Using an ethical approach, it would make more sense to first make managerial routes of watching the floor to observe the processes that take place during sanitation and changeover routines in order to gain factual information to bring forward with my concerns. In finding that the employees are not exactly following company protocols the question of what to do next would become an aggravating opponent which in turn could make me jump the gun to make the mistake of blowing the whistle. Being that the company is already having problems with earnings along with a pending poisoning case looming in the air, it would definitely not be a good idea to turn my back on the issue nor would it be a good idea to help the company develop more losses by publicly destroying its reputation applying a tort in blowing the whistle on the situation. Therefore further investigation would be needed. After discussing the issue within the quality department and checking previous records, I would then assess the risk of taking this thing any further. If I tell now will I be praised and heralded a hero to be given an early promotion? Maybe so, but if I decide to keep quiet with the belief that this will probably blow over, will it come back to haunt me in the future because I didn’t do my job? These are individually very difficult questions to answer, but I believe that if I followed the proper steps to analyze each individual area where and how the salmonella may have infected the product, will help in taking the proper steps to eliminate this from happing again. This would serve as a job well done giving me enough satisfaction that would keep me from making the same
